COMMERCIAL NEARLY HALE OF N.Z.’S WOOL SHIPPED TO U.K.

WELLINGTON, April 26. Britain has taken 370,573 bales, or 46.5 per. cent., of the New Zealand wool that has been shipped during the eight months, JulyFebruary, of the current season, according to the New Zealand Wool Board. During the same period Britain took about 38 per cent, of all the non-processed wool shipped from Australia. France occupies the second place on New Zealand’s list of buyers with 130,158 bales, or 16:3 per cent., of the 797,517 bales exported during the period. The United States, with 73,927 bales, or 9.3 per cent., and Germany, with 60,230 bales, or 7.6 per cent., were third and fourth.
Italy, with 29,143 bales, 3.7 per cent., Belgium, 28,943, 3.6 per
cent., Poland, 28,751, 3.5 per cent., Holland, 17,220, 2.1 per cent., Russia, 15,641, 2 per cent., and Japan, 10,627, 1.3 per cent., held the next main places. Twenty-one other countries shared the remaining 4.1 per cent. The main Australian buyers, after the United Kingdom, have been Japan, France, Italy, Belgium, and Germany, in that order. China, one of the countries whose sustained buying has been credited with keeping wool prices at their higher post-war level, has taken only 1200 bales of nonprocessed wool direct from New Zealand. The bulk of buying from this country is done in the processing countries in the form of wool tops.
