Boxing CLEARANCE FOR BROWN
Bout Offered To Beazley (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 26. The Hutt Valley Boxing Association has received a medical clearance from the former Empire professional welter-weight boxing champion, Barry Brown. Arrangements are thus complete for his contest against the New Zealand champion, Barney Shaw, of Christchurch, at Lower Hutt on May 20. Brown signed the articles today. A separate set of articles was dispatched to Shaw on Wednesday for his signature. The Wellington middle-weight professional boxer, Billy Beazley, has been offered a contest against the French Noumean, Doudi, m New Caledonia, for a purse of £5OO, with all expenses paid, said his joint manager (Mr B. Dods) today. Mr Dods said that acceptance of the engagement, which Beazley was keen to fulfil, was dependent on arrangements for contests in Australia being made by the manager of Sydney Stadiums, Ltd.
