Swedish Minister To N.Z. Retiring

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 26. After 40 years’ service for his Government, the Swedish Minister to New Zealand and Australia (Mr J. M. Kastengren) will retire on July 1, by which time he should be back in Stockholm.

Mr Kastengren, who has been in charge of the Legation in Wellington since the departure of the former Charge d’Affaires (Mr B. G. Jarnstedt, now in India), hopes to leave Auckland in the liner Athenic for England on May 17. He has been accredited to the Australian and New Zealand Governments since 1951.'

Mr Kastengren said it would be several weeks before the appointments would be announced of successors to Mr Jarnstedt, as Charge d’Affaires in Wellington, and to himself, as Minister, in Canberra.
