Obituary MR A. P. POSTLEWAITE
(New Zeatana Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 26. Mr Arthur Percy Postlewaite died at the Green Lane Public Hospital last night, aged 61. For 12 years president of the Auckland Returned Services’ Association, he was known to countless thousands of war veterans, and was recently re-elected unopposed for a further year. Yesterday was the first Anzac Day for many years that he had not been present at the Cenotaph observances.
As a private in the 3rd Auckland Battalion, he sailed with the Main Body at the age of 17, and was badly wounded on Gallipoli. He held the highest honour the Returned Services* Association could bestow—the Certificate of Merit and the Gold Star Badge. He was a public accountant. Mr Postlewaite was a founda-, tion member when the association was formed in 1916. He has also been on numerous organisations connected with former-service-men’s rehabilitation, housing, and other interests. He served on the Auckland City Council from 1953 to 1956.
