REACTIONS IN EUROPE
(Rec. 8 p.m.) PARIS, April 24. French officials said tonight that Egypt’s statement on future administration of the Suez Canal did not seem very different from what was previously known of Egyptian plans. “The Times” said in a leading article that seldom had negotiations produced such little result. Referring to the talks in Cairo between representatives of Egypt, the United States and the United Nations, “The Times” said: “It turns out to be entirely as expected—a replay of a month-old record with only a few changes here and there that hardly matter.” “The Times” said that President Nasser had given no sign that he would let Israeli shipping through the canal. The political correspondent of the “Daily Express” wrote that Colonel Nasser had published “take-it-or-leave-it” terms, and the “Daily Sketch” headlined its report of the terms: “Winner Nasser Takes All.”
