Sterile Air Change At Cashmere
After an opinion from Sir James Paterson Ross, the hospital committee of the North Canterbury Hospital Board has reaffirmed its decision on the advisability of sterile air change in treatment rooms at the new Cashmere Hospital, the board decided on Wednesday to ask. the Health Department to reconsider the original request. Parking at Burwood.— The request of the Waimairi County Council for off-street parking at the Burwood Hospital has been declined. Laundry Service for Aged.— The secretary of the advisory committee on the care of the aged has advised the benevolent committee that a Government decision on the beginning of a laundry service for aged persons might be expected shortly. Accommodation for Aged.— The architect has been instructed to proceed with single-line drawings for the old people’s home at Waltham. £200,000 Loan.— The board will raise a loan of £200.000 for 10 years at current rates of interest, annual redemptions to be at the rate of £20.000. Radiotherapy Patients.—The finance committee reported that it was “investigating properties suitable for providing accommodation for radiotherapy patients requiring to stay in Christchurch for treatment at the department. The Health Department’s opinion on the proposal will be sought. Smoke Nuisance.— The board’s engineer has been asked to investigate the possibility of mitigating the smoke nuisance at Burwood Hospital which is causing concern among local residents. Swimming Bath.— The nurses at Burwood Hospital have offered to defray the expenses of installing a swimming bath from a nurses’ recreational fund.
