Women On The Jury?

Sir, —Twice lately this question has been asked. Women often make the remark, “Men don’t appear interested or seem to want us, as they do in Britain.” Yet on account of pressure of business they are often reluctant to serve. Is there an age limit? Think of retired headmistresses, matrons, literary and business women and good householders, most ol whom would be well balanced and qualified to serve their country. Delegates to this present Legal Conference should widen their outlook and make time to discuss this question. Many fine women would like to serve, but you must ask and be willing and give them the welcome they deserve.—Yours, etc., WOMEN JURORS. April 24, 1957.
