Five-stringed Violin.—A pearshaped violin with five strings, one more than the usual violins have, has been made by a musical instruments firm in West Germany. The fifth string is not bowed like the others. It is a so-called oscillating C-string which, the makers claim, makes the sound of the other strings more melodious.—(Reuter)
