JOINT APPEAL PROPOSAL
Japan To Study Soviet Plan (Rec. 10 p.m.) TOKYO, April 22. The Japanese Prime Minister (Mr Nobusuke Kishi) said today that the Government would study the advisability of presenting a joint Soviet-Japanese proposal to the British and United States Governments urging the suspension of nuclear tests. Mr Kishi, who was commenting on a suggestion by Mr Khrushchev, added, however, that the Government would only consider the Soviet suggestion if it was presented to Japan through normal diplomatic channels. Mr Kishi. who was speaking before the Diet, merely nodded his head when asked whether he would urge the United States Secretary of State (Mr Dulles) to consider Mr Khrushchev’s proposal during Mr Kishi’s forthcoming visit to Washington.
