SHOW HORSES INJURED
Float Wrecked In Capsize
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 23. Two valuable show horses were seriously injured, and six were cut and bruised, when the float m which they were being taken from the Middlemarch show to Dunedin capsized on the road between Shannon and Sutton last night.
The horses that were cut and bruised were turned out in a nearby paddock, and the two badly-injured horses were brought to Dunedin in another horse float ror attention.
Mrs J. R. Benson, owner of several of the horses, said tonight that the truck was wrecked, and it was amazing that the horses and the driver, Mr J. Hamilton, of Portobello, had escaped so lightly. The most seriously injured horse Is the racehorse Hasty Bill owned by the Benson family’ which is suffering from a shattered cheekbone. This horse, Mrs Benson said, was "very sick.” Most of the horses are all well known at Otago shows, and have competed successfully throughout the province. They include Mr W. Hastie’s King, suffering from badly cut legs, and his horse Quid. Another well-known show jumper, Solomon, owned bv Mrs J. McCulloch, was travelling in the truck, together with Dandy a pony. Jet, Night Flight, and Hasty Bill all owned by the Benson family.
