MINISTER FORCED TO BURY WIFE

Effect Of Pilots 9 Strike (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 22. A 25-year-old Anglican minister was forced to conduct the burial service for his wife on Norfolk Island because the Qantas pilots’ strike made it impossible for a relief minister to be flown from Australia. He is the Rev. S. S. Horton. He and his wife arrived on the island on their honeymoon last year when Mr Horton took up his duties. His wife died after giving birth to a daughter. The Bishop of Sydney tried unsuccessfully to have a relief minister flown to the island.
