Two Horses Fall At Riccarton
After the running of the Courtenay Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday an inquiry was held into the falls of Porcelain Prince (D. N. Hadfield) and Breccia (M. D. Alexander) about four furlongs and a half, from the finish. After hearing evidence from the jockeys W. D. Skelton (Sir Edwin), C. McDonald (Golden), C. A. Bowry (Amulette), Hadfield and Alexander, and Messrs A. L. Lewis (patrol steward). and B. G. Rutherford (a steward of the club), the committee found that the falls were accidental and that no blame could be attached to any other horse or rider.
