Purge Of Writers In Hungary
(Rec. 8 p m.) BUDAPEST, April SI Hungary has dissolved the Hungarian Writers’ Federation because it was used to attack the country’s “social order.” One of its leading members, Tibor Dery, has been arrested on suspicion of “anti-State activities,’’ an Interior Ministry announcement said. At the same time, the official Communist newspaper “Nepszabadsag” reported the formation of an advisory literary council of 11 men—nearly all former members of the Writers’ Federationattached to the Culture Ministry to discuss “the most Important questions of literary life.”
