AEROPLANE-HELICOPTER.—This tilt-wing combination aeroplane-helicopter has been made for the United States Army and the Office of Naval Research. When the wing and the propellers are tilted vertically (top), the aircraft takes off and lands like a helicopter. Horizontally tilted (below), it flies like an aeroplane. The machine was developed by the Vertol Aircraft Corporation, Morton, Pennsylvania.
