Bevan Comments On Middle East

TEL AVIV, April 21. The foreign policy spokesman of the British Labour Party, Mr Aneurin Bevan, said today that no settlement of Middle East problems was possible without the participation of the Soviet Union. He told reporters on his arrival at Lydda airport that Russia’s presence in the Middle East was now *a fact that could not be ignored. Mr Bevan said he hoped developments would enable a wide agreement in which the Soviet would participate. Questioned on his views on the. prospects of the Eisenhower Middle East “doctrine,” Mr Bevan commented: 4/ I do not believe that Cadillacs are more popular in the Middle East than RollsRoyces.”
