Cycling HERNE HILL RACES

(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) LONDON, April 19. Elmo Pesenti, the Italian cycling champion and Olympic Games silver medal winner crashed in the final of the international 1000-metres sprint race for the "News of the World” champion of champions trophy at Herne Hill, London, today He had to be taken to hospital with elbow and thigh injuries.

The race was won for the second successive year by the British champion, Lloyd Binch, of Nottingham, who beat Andre Gruchet, the national champion of France. by inches.

Binch covered the last 220 yards in 12.9 seconds.

The Australian Olympic gold medal winner, Dick Ploog, failed in the final, but won a two-lap scratch race.
