Heart Surgery.—One ot the leading heart surgeons of the United States will operate on an Indian postal clerk who is coming . to Philadelphia for the surgery. Mr Sewa Chand, aged 35. from Samur, Patiala in the Punjab, appealed for help to Dr. Andre Cournand of New York, 1956 Nobel Prize winner in medicine. * Chand suffers from almost continuous palpitation. Dr. Cournand . turned to Dr. Charles P. Bailey, eminent surgeon, who agreed to t give his services free. Travel and other costs will be shared by International House, a Labour Union, the hospital where the . operation will be performed, and a convalescent home. —Philadelphia.
