Funds For U.S. Post Office

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 19. An emergency 41 million dollar postal appropriation to restore full mail services was approved by Congress yesterday. The Congressional action came as the Postmaster-General (Mr Arthur Summerfield) refused to listen to demands both in and out of Congress that he resign as a result of the postal service curtailments. Mr Summerfield cancelled Saturday deliveries last week and ordered further mail curtailments until Congress provided extra funds.
