China And America To Exchange Nationals
GENEVA, July 21. Communist China has agreed to release six American nationals detained in China, the United States delegation to the Indo-China conference announced today. The United States has agreed to permit 15 Chinese students, hitherto prevented from leaving the United States to return home, the announcement a< Today’s announcement was the first big result of a series of meetings held at Geneva between officials of the American and Chinese delegations on the fate of American citizens held by the Communists, and Chinese nationals detained by the American authorities. The meetings were first arranged through the.good offices of Britain, who recognises Communist China, while the United States does not.
