Red Cross Aid To Britain From N.Z. Worth £2,000,000
NEWS FOR WOMEN *
WELLINGTON, July 8. The New Zealand Red CroSs Society - nee the end of World War II has sent food and clothing to Britain to the value of about £2,000,000. Rationing has ceased in Britain, but the society will continue to send clothing. A letter received by the society from the Countess of Limerick, vice-chair-man of the British Red Cross Society, says:—“We are in entire agreement that the forwarding of foodstuffs for relief can now cease, and are deeply grateful to you for having continued to send us foodstuffs over such a long geriod. The help given by the New ealand Red Cross in the difficult years during and after the war has meant a very great deal to the people

at Britain, and has done much to cement further the close friendship between our two countries. “We would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those centres and sub-centres of the New Zealand Red Cross that have contributed towards the consignments of food, and would ask you to convey these expressions of gratitude to them. “We are anxious that they should know how much we appreciate all the sacrifices made by their members to maintain the steady flow of gifts, and to assure them that their generosity will never be forgotten by us and the many recipients.” The -secretary-general of the New Zealand society (Mr M. S. Galloway) said today that in these thanks the general public, which had supported the society magnificently, were included.
