A TRIBUTE
Sir, —May I, through your columns, pay a tribute to Mr R. Beattie, whose death occurred on Wednesday. Unassumingly, Mr Beattie was a stalwart in the field of sport for many long years in this province. His appearance on the athletic fields and Rugby fields will be sadly missed. His knowledge and verdicts were never questioned. He was always keen to listen and give a clear expression of his views in any controversy. His personality was par excellence. My personal contacts with him for many years in business and pleasure leave nothing to oe desired and his traditions will long be remembered by all who enjoyed his friendship. His memory, as a true and genuine comrade, will linger on;— Yours, etc., TOM BERRY. July 8, 1954.
