PRICE OF EGGS

Sir, — A. short time ago a notice appeared in “The Press” to the effect that the price of eggs would be reduced by 6d a dozen as from the following Monday. On taking my eggs to the collectors I found that I received 8d a dozen less than the week before. In the autumn a notice also appeared in “The Press” that the price of eggs would advance by 6d .a dozen the following week; but on that occasion I received lid more and it was some five weeks before I received the full 6d. Those of us who have eggs to sell would welcome an explanation to this riddle.—Yours, etc., W.L.H. Ashburton, July 6, 1954. [The mangament of the Ashburton Poultry Farmers’ Trading Company said the correct channel for information about egg prices would be the Egg Marketing Authority, Wellington.]
