CIVIC THEATRE HEATING
Sir, I should like to know if the c£*, th j Civi< ? is heated. Last Saturday night, a bitterly cold night, we went to the Mina Foley concert, and a more delightful performans® cOhld not be imagined, but the artists' in their evening frocks seemed to be frozen: there were no signs of heaters of any kind; and if this is the case, then it is a disgrace, and no artists should come our way. The theatre itself was quite warm, but I am afraid that is where it ended. Then we moan that the South Island is neglected.—Yours, etc., T _ MUSIC LOVER. June 29, 1954. [“There are four large steam radiators on the stage of the Civic Theatre,’’ said the Town Clerk (Mr H. S. Feast) yesterday. “However, because of the high loft, stage heating frequently creates difficulties. This is accentuated at the Civic Theatre on cold nights because the stage door is an exterior door. A porch is being erected to overcome this difficulty.”]
