N.Z. CRICKET TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA

MANAGER’S ADDRESS TO GATHERING The manager (Mr J. L. Kerr) and two members of the team, Messrs A. R. Mac Gibbon and J. G. Leggat, showed films and spoke of their impressions of last season’s New Zealand cricket tour of South Africa and Australia at a gathering held recently at Duvauchelle under the auspices of the Banks Peninsula Cricket Sub-As-sociation. Mr Kerr said that it was disappointing that New Zealand had not done better in the tests, but he felt the tour had been a success, because it was without any unpleasant incidents, and had meant a lot in experience for New Zealand cricket.

Main problems for the team had been those connected with heat, height, humidity and health. Over the early stages of the tour most of the players had suffered from stomach upsets. The films screened were in colour, and were taken by another member of the team, Guy Overton.
