DECISION OF COUNTY COUNCIL

The Malvern County Council has decided to levy the same general rate as last year, in the £, which will yield £16,096 on a reteable capital value of £2,207,465. Because the hospital rate is reduced from l-3d in the t £ to Jd, ratepayers will notice ■ a slight decrease in the total amount on the rate demands. The total estimated expenditure, as presented to a recent meeting of the council by the treasurer, was £50.586. Of this amount £18.600 will be spent on county roads which is £3352 more than last year. Other major items are main highways £6486. water supply £5900, . purchase of plant £3OOO, and planft maintenance £7500. The National Roads Board subsidy will provide £l3OO more than is usually received 'by the council. It was reported to the meeting that 1100 drivers out of an estimated total of 1350, had renewed their licences. Nearly half of these were for five years.'
