The objects of the said Bill are to extend to all the Roman Catholic Archbishops and Bishops in New Zealand uniform powers of selling, exchanging, mortgaging arid leasing and other subsidiary powers in respect of lands vested in them for the purpose of the Roman Catholic Church, which powers are by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland Empowering Act, 1924, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland Empowering Act, 1929, and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin Empowering Act, 1940, already substantially conferred upon the Roman Catholic Bishops of Auckland and Dunedin, and to enable all the Roman Catholic Archbishops and Bishops in New Zealand to become registered as proprietors of lands now registered in the names of persons now deceased Which at the dates of the deaths of those persons were held by them in trust for a religious, charitable, educational or other purpose of the Roman Catholic Church in New Zealand or of a body, society or organisation associated with or forming part of the said Church.
