ACCIDENTS
MAN DIES AFTER FALL DOWN STAIRS
Samuel Phoenix Briggs, aged 69, a retired accountant, of 45 Byron street, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital at 7.40 p.m. yesterday. He was injured when he fell down some stairs at the Guardian Insurance Company in Hereford street, about 3.35 p.m.
YOUNG BOY SUFFERS HEAD INJURIES
A young boy suffered head injuries when he was knocked down by a motor-car near the Shirley golf links in New Brighton road yesterday afternoon, He is Neale Learmonth, aged five, of 52 Cooper street. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 2.50 p.m. His condition late last evening was reported to be satisfactory. TRUCK AND CAR COLLIDE Two brothers, the occupants of a truck, were injured in a collision with a motor-car at the corner of Ferry road and Fitzgerald avenue, last evening. They are Messrs Godfrey Wylie and Wilson Wylie of 466 Hereford street. They were admitted to the Christchurch Ptiblic Hospital about midnight. Their condition was reported to be satisfactory. CYCLIST INJURED James Douglas Bass, a cyclist, of 27 Akaroa street, was injured when he was involved in a collision with a motor-car in Stapletons road about 6.10 p.m. yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition late last- evening was reported to be satisfactory.
