ANNUAL MATCH AT WIGRAM
SERGEANTS BEAT THE OFFICERS
For more than 25 years the officers at She Royal New Zealand Air Force sta- * ton, wigram, have played an annual ‘ fcigby match against the sergeants. The I natch is restricted to players over 25 j years old, and at stake is the Brown . manorial trophy given by sisters as a , manorial to two airmen brothers who were killed during the last war. One, a sergeant pilot, was killed in 1942, and < the other, a flying officer, was killed in 1 W. The trophy is a polished propeller 1 with a silver plate showing Rugby goal j P®s on one side and cricket stumps and ( * bat on the other. A cricket match is ■ also played each year for the trophy. ’ S' * r the commanding officer of the « roup Captain B. S. Nicholl, < refereed the annual Rugby match which . was won by the sergeants by 14 points to g- flatter and Belcher (2) scored tries « the winners, Hamilton converted one wy» and Hacche kicked a penalty goal.
