METHVEN CLUB
PROFIT OF £449 FOR YEAR
After providing £291 for depreciation, the Methven Trotting Club showed a profit of £449 for the year
ended May 31. 1954. This is shown in the financial statement which will be presented at the annual meeting of the club on July 15. The innovation of the Two-year-old Stakes at the autumn meeting proved
a great success, says the annual report. Sir John McKenzie owned La Mignon and Royal Minstrel, which finished first and second, and this proved popular with the large crowd. The club installed photo-finish apparatus during the year, and incurred heavy expenditure for maintenance to buildings and the track, the report says . Additional accommodation and facilities are urgently needed, and the committee hopes to deal with this matter in the near future.
During the last year, the main items of expenditure were: taxation, £12,187; stakes, £5898; maintenance, £1281; salaries, £782. Main items of income were: tofalisator receipts, £17,800; nomination and acceptance fees, £ 1470; gate receipts, £784; race cards, £331. The club’s main assets include: cash at bank, £3168; insurance policy, £2700; national savings investments, £1980; buildings, £1634.
