Balkan Alliance Initialled

(Rec. 8 p.m.) ATHENS, July 5. A Greek, Turkish, and Jugoslav committee completed drafting the text of the Balkan Alliance of the three countries today, after a week’s conference.

The joint text was initialled by the committee leaders and will be submitted, with reports, to their Governments.

A joint statement after the conference said that the three delegations were “happy to be able to emphasise the spirit of understanding and mutual confidence which prevailed at the conference.”

A Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman said the gist of the text would be communicated to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation before the three Balkan Foreign Ministers meet at Bled, in Slovena, on July 20.
