A survey of players available has been made, and it is obvious that sufficient players can be obtained to justify the Government in proceeding with the establishment oi an orchestra. —The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) announcing the appointment of Mr Andersen Tyrer to assemble, train, and organise the necessary personnel for a national symphony orchestra. Sound, sound the Trumpet, blow the great Bassoon, Beat several Drums, wind every Kind of Horn; . Let Flutes be heard, and Strings take up the Tune — This Year our National Orchestra is born. At one commanding Flourish, more or less, Of Mr Tyrer’s Baton, Music soars: The Record-changers of the N.B.S. Tremble at that dread Noise, and bolt the DoorS. The Quest is done; august Authority’ (Anonymous) has blessed the Undertaking. There’s Talent and to spare; the Licence Fee Will pay the Piper for his Musicmaking. Let no discordant Alien Note be played To mar the Harmony from Wellington; Noo Zillun’s Music by Noo Zillun made Can show the World the Way It should be done. Hath Music Charms. Elections to decide?
