The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom (Sir Patrick Duff) and Lady Dtiff will leave Wellington on July 1 for engagements in Hokitika. Greymouth, and Westport. They will return to Wellington on July 5. —(P.A.) Mr J. W. Prew, supervisor of the mail branch in the Chief Post Office at Christchurch, has been transferred on promotion, to Invercargill, where he will be senior supervisor of the postal branch.
Mr E. W. Wade has been appointed chief auctioneer for the Waimate branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., and will take up his new duties on Monday. Mr Wade has. for the last 15 years, befen an auctioneer for that company in Christchurch, and a well-known figure at Addington and other markets.
Police-Sergeant ft. C. Mcßobie, of Greymouth, has been promoted to the rank of senior-sergeant and will remain at Greymouth. Whereas formerly only one sergeant was stationed at Greymouth, there will in future be two sergeants, apd the appointment of Sergeants H. CL Hansen and B. W. Wootton, both of Christchurch, to the positions. is announced. Sergeant A. J. Austin, of Hokitika, has also been promoted to the rank of senior-serges nt, and will remain at Hokitika in the meantime. Sergeant C. J. Dwyer has been transferred from Christchurch to Nelson.
