MAGISTRATE’S COURT

FRIDAY (Before Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M.) IMPRISONMENT Thomas Frederick Perry, a pensioner and labourer, aged 54, was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment with hard labour for the theft of £2 in money from William Thompson Mitchell. Detective-Sergeant A. A. Herron said that the accused had been on a drinking bout, and had asked complainant for £2, to show him a trick. He had left with the money, and had not returned. He had had previous convictions. Petry, who pleaded guilty, said the money had been taken as a loan. TRAFFIC CASES Offenders against the traffic, regulations were dealt with as follows in cases brought by the policefailing to give way: William George Broomfield, 20s; David Pressey Granger, £2; Clarence Hawker, 20s; Johanna Julia Kelly, 20s; James Henry Kitto, 20s. Cycling at night without a light: George Diamond, 10s; Paul Jacobson, 10s; Orton Le Gros, 20s. No warrant of fitness: Edward James Cross, 10s; David Pressey Granger, 10s; Johanna Julia Kelly, costs only. No number plates: Henry Frederick McCully, 10s. No driver’s licence: Harry Foster Taylor, 10s.
