BLOCKADE OF SPAIN
PROPOSAL TO TRADE
UNIONS
REJECTION BY WORLD FEDERATION
(Rec. 10.45 p.m.) LONDON, June 27. “The executive of the World Federation of Trade Unions rejected a proposal that workers should blockade Spain by refusing to handle traffic to and from Spanish ports.” says the Moscow correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.” “Supporters of the blockade action could have secured a majority vote, but believed that Britain and
America would have ignored the decision with possible serious consequences to the World Federation of Trade Unions. Britain, America, and the Netherlands opposed the proposal. “The executive ot the World Federation of Trajie Unions adopted resolutions calling for the restoration of the General Federation of Labour in Greece and the appointment of a fourPower commission to investigate conditions there,” says the Moscow radio. “The executive ‘provided available facts were confirmed, decided to protest emphatically against attempts on the life of Greek workers and trade union freedom,’ and to send a protest to the Foreign Ministers in Paris. “The preparation of an appeal to workers throughout the world for support of. the World Federation of Trade Unions demand for represwitation in the United Nations was delegated to a sub-committee.”
