The reappointment of Sir Donald McGavin and Dr. C. R. Burns as members of the M edica l Council was gazetted last night.— (P.A.) The appointment of Mr Ernst Theiler as the Consul of Switzerland at Wellington was gazetted last night.—(P.A.) Detective-Sergeant F. J. Brady has received notice of his promotion to the rank of senior detective. He will remain in Christchurch.

Mr D. M. Greig has been appointed Under-Secretary of Lands in succession to Mr R. G. MacMorran, who is retiring, after 42 years’ service. Mr Greig joined the Lands and Survey Department in 1918.—(P.A.)

Colonel F. L. Hunt, 0.8. E., N.Z-S.C,, has been appointed Brigadier (temporary) while carrying out the duties of Acting-Adjutant-General, New Zealand Military Forces, and a member of the Army Board. — (P.A.)

Messrs W. Marshall, of Paeroa, A. J. Sinclair, of Te Awamutu, and F. Parsons, of Patea, were reappointed the representatives of the New Zealand Dairy Federation on the Dairy Industry Council at the fifty-second annual conference of the association.—(P.A.) Mr I. L. M. Coop, of Kaituna, who is chairman of the Provincial Meat and Wool Section of the North Canterbury district of Federated Farmers, has oeen nominated as a delegate for election to the electoral committee of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. The esteem in which the Rev. Father D. Lordan is held in Sumner and Redcliffs wes shown by the large attendance at a gathering held to mark the completion of his 25 years in the Briesthood. Thirteen years of that time ave been spent in the Sumner-Wool-ston area. Bishop Lyons referred to Father Lordan’s work and record of service in the diocese, and other speakers were the Rev. Father Fogarty and Mr John Noonan. Mr A J.'Mai? ley presented Father Lordan with a gift from parishioners and spoke of his outstanding work in the parish.
