EDUCATION BOARD
• TWO MORE MEMBERS IN URBAN AREA The membership of the Canterbury Education Board will be increased by two at the next election on July 17. This follows the increase of the population of Christchurch revealed by the last census. There will now be six members to represent the Christchurch urban area instead of four. The sit- \ ting members are Messrs C. S. Thompson. A. Geenwood, 'W. T. Langley, and J. J. Hurley. The terms of Messrs Langley and Hurley expire, but they are eligible re-election. oth er nominations received are Messrs A. E. Forsey, S. J.< Irwin, and A. McNeil. There will also be an election for the south ward, for which Messrs G. Edgar and S. Smith have been nominated, there being only one seat to fill. The Timaru, middle, and north-west wards will not be contested, as the sitting members, Messrs A. E. Lawrence, F. G. Armstrong, and F. L. Turley are the only nominations.
