FAULT IN FIRE ALARM SYSTEM A fault in the fire alarm system at Lyttelton, believed to be caused by the earthquake of the previous night, was discovered last night when an alarm wa» given for a fire in a motor-car at the corner of London and Dublin strejts. The indicator number at the station sen* the first engine up Randolph te rr®ce. Another number then dr.opped and the second engine went to west IP the meantime the superintendent (Mr K. R. Carson) and other firemen on their way to the fire station, saw the fire ana succeeded in extinguishing it. The cai which is owned by Mr Noel Seymour, wal moderately damaged.
