Dr. W. G. Wickremesinghe, assistant director of sanitary services in the Government of Ceylon, is visiting Christchurch in the course of a world tour in which he is studying public health services.
The pending retirement of Mr Fred W. Wilson, secretary of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland dement, Ltd., since its inception in 1918, was announced at the annual meeting yesterday.—(P.S.S.) Mr C. T. Mr L. Verry (New Zealand Press Association) was elected chairman at the annual meeting of the Parliamentary Press Gallery yesterday. Mr F. J. A. Fox (‘‘The Press”) was elected vice-chairman.

According to a letter received by his parents, Mr and Mrs L. N. Trent, of Nelson, Squadron Leader L. H. Trent, V.C., D.F.C., has booked a passage to New Zealand by sea. This will enable him to travel out with his wife and five-year-old daughter, Christine, who. had booked passages earlier. Thus the airman’s previous plan of flying out to the Dominion about Christmas is cancelled. It is expected that he will arrive in Nelson towards the end of August on about six months’ furlough. —(P.S.S.)
