Offensive Parcels.—The Post Office states that many parcels which have recently been sent through the post containing deer tails, and owls’ heads have arrived at their destination in an offensive condition. Not only are parcels in such a condition most objectionable to handle, but there is always the possibility that they may cause damage to other parcels in the same mail. In future, therefore, parcels containing the items mentioned which are found at any stage of their journey in the post to be in an offensive condition will be destroyed. Post Office regulations provide that perishable articles, fish, game, rabbitskins, and the like must be packed in straw or some similar substance, and the whole enclosed in calico or thin sacking, the contents of the parcel being indicated on the cover. Rabbitskins must be thoroughly dried before being packed.
