FENDALTON SCHOOL
PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION FORMED
About 120 members were enrolled at the inaugural meeting of the Fendalton School Parent-Teacher Association recently, The conveners, Messrs C. W. Collins and D. McKee Wright, explained the reasons for calling a meeting of parents, and Mr C. T. Ford (president of the Canterbury Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations) described the purpose of these associations and the various ways in which they functioned in oth?r places. The headmaster (Mr A. R. Blank) supported the proposal, promising the cooperation of the school staff. He also invited members to see the school at work on a first visit on Wednesday afternoon. Following the adoption of a simple constitution the association elected its first committee, as follows:—patron, Mr A. R. Blank; president, Mr G. A. G. Connal; vice-presidents, Mrs C. C. Holland and Mr D. W. Bain; honorary secS -treasurer Mrs D. McKee t; committee, Mesdames C. A. Noble, J. Royds, and E. F. L. Hill, Messrs C. G. Crawford. G. S. Troup, and R. A. Whitbrock; honorary auditor, Mr J. H. Pickles; representatives of the school committee. Messrs L. N. Morris and R. G. Shepheard. The school staff is also to appoint three representatives.
