NEW TYPES OF WHEAT

WORK OF RESEARCH INSTITUTE *

Included in the display of the Wheat Research Institute at the forthcoming New Zealand Industries Fair will be two new varieties of wheat produced by the institute but rot yet grown on a commercial scale. They are Cross 78 and Cross 140. Both of them have years of experimental work behind them, and both will be distributed to farmers within the next year.

Also on display will be the machine designed, by the institute’s staff to extract nearly 10 tons more flour (with a high vitamin content) from 100 tons of wheat by passing the pollard through a specially devised process.
