BOXING

FULLER BEATS GRIFFIN (P A.) AUCKLAND, June 24. After a disappointing professional lightweight boxing contest at the town hall to-night, Bobby Fuller (Australia), 9st 921 b, defeated Jim Griffin (Wellington), 9st 1021 b, New Zealand champion, on points. Fuller made most of the fight, and deserved the decision. Griffin at ’no stage looked the Dominion title-holder. At the commencement of the eighth round the referee told both contestants to fight, while during the contest several in the capacity house urged the official in charge to “send them home.”
