BRITISH TROOPS IN LEBANON
WITHDRAWAL ALMOST COMPLETE
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, June 23. British Headquarters in Beirut announced that the evacuation of British troops from the Lebanon is proceeding ahead of the schedule, which had been planned to ensure that the Lebanon was cleared before the end or the month. Only 1500 troops remain and 7000 have left since March. British Headquarters will be closed on June 30, but a small group of about, 170 of all ranks will remain to liquidate British interests.
