FAST AND SPECTACULAR GAME (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, June 23. Fast, open football kept the crowd of 25,000 on its toes in the England v. Queensland Rugby League game. Spectacular passing rushes by both teams were a feature of the first half. Queensland opened the scoring 13 minutes after the start with an unconverted try. England made the scores equal a minute later, and a penalty goal then put Queensland ahead, 5-3.

England then attacked strongly, scoring two tries in eight minutes. One was converted, and England led 11-5. Play became rough, but was still fast, with Queensland attacking, to score a second try after 37 minutes. This was converted and the score at half-time was England 11, Queensland 10. Four minutes after the resumption a penalty goal put Queensland ahead, 12-11. A brilliant try after 10 minutes, which was converted, put Queensland six points in front Queensland surprised all critics by unexpected brilliance, and the crowd was wildly excited when the side scored again within two minutes. The conversion made the scores. Queensland 22. England 11.

England attacked strongly for the next 20 minutes, and two tries and two goals reduced the deficit to one point. Both teams continued to play a fast and open game, and a try was always imminent. Just before the final bell Queensland and England both scored, and the final scores were;

However, England had not fielded its strongest team The scorers were:—for England: Egan, Johnson (2), Kitching, and Batten (2) tries. Risman kicked three goals For Queensland. Melrose. Kenney (2), Brosnan, and Morris scored tries. Gaylor kicked five goals.
