AUSTRALIAN WOOL CLIP
EXPECTED TOTAL OF 3,000,000 BALES , , SYDNEY, June 21. The Australian wool clip for the current season is estimated at- 3.000,000 bales excluding skin wool's. This whs announced at a joint meeting of the Australian Woolgrowers’ Council and the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers. The percentages of merino wool and crossbred will be 77 and 23 respectively, and, the average bale weight 305.61 b. Last season’s clip, the poorest for many years, amounted to 2,891,754 bales valued at £57,835,080. The 1943 clip of 3,606,547 bales was sold for £73,878,354.
When auction sales begin again after June 3 a subsidy will be paid to maintain the existing prices of wool to Australian manufacturers for utilisation in goods for domestic consumption.
