MORE FACTORIES IN BRITAIN
WORK FOR 218,000 PLANNED (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, June 19. “More than 1450 new factories are to jbe built in Britain at a cost of £62,000,000. They will provide employment for 218,000 men and women,” says the Press Association’s political correspondent. “Efforts are being made to spread -the factories over the country to prevent London becoming a congested conglomeration of industrial units.” The correspondent adds that the Government is pleased with factory S regress in the development areas—le north-eastern area, West Cumberland, South ■ Wales,. South Lancashire, and Scotland. There are in these areas 262 new factories in the course of actual construction at the end of May, compared with 180 at the end of April
