ST. JAMES’
“THE PEARL OF DEATH” Based on one of Arthur Conan Doyle's most thrilling stories, "The Pearl of Death," which opens its season at the St. James’ Theatre to-day, is Universal's new and exciting Sherlock Holmes film. The story tells of the theft of a fabulously valuable pearl and its eventual recovery. However, between the time the pearl disappears and is found many people meet sudden death, causing the jewel to become known as the pearl of death. The picture co-stars Basil Rathbone, as Sherlock Holmes, and Nigel Bruce, as Dr. Watson.
“Moss,” England's champion sheepdog, and winner of countless trophies, is the fascinating star of “Sheep Dog of the Hills," the supporting film. The picture was filmed entirely in Devon, and some magnificent scenery is brought to the screen. -
