SEAPLANE BASE FOR OTAGO
HARBOUR BOARD ‘TO INVESTIGATE
, DUNEDIN, June 20. The latest developments in the use of seaplanes and the possibilities of using Otago Harbour as a seaplane base are to be investigated by a special committee appointed at a meeting of the Otago Harbour Board to-night “I suggest that we should set up a sub-committee to report to the board within six months on two main points,” said the chairman, Mr W. R. Clarke, ‘‘first whether a seaplane base would be feasible in the harbour, and second, what would be the cost? If there is a possibility of a seaplane service coming to the South Island there is no doubt that Dunedin is the most suitable place being centrally situated and.with a harbour almost in the centre of the city.”
The motion was seconded by Mr W. Begg and carried. “We have the facilities, ’ Mr Begg said, “and with a 13l x ?i. a suitable base could be established.”
