ITALIAN VOTE FOR REPUBLIC
SUPREME COURT ISSUES FINAL FIGURES ROME. June 18. The Supreme Court has issued the final Italian referendum figures, which are as follows: For a Republic .. ‘2,717,923 For the Monarchy .. 10,719,284 Spoiled voting papers 1,498,136 Reuters comments that if the number of spoiled voting papers were added to the votes for the Monarchy the total would be 500,503 below the total for the Republic. The Monarchists contended that the law required the majority to be calculated m this manner instead of by the method of the excess of Republican votes over Monarchist.
