NO MOVE FOR AFFILIATION

LABOUR AND LEE PARTIES " The Press Special Service WELLINGTON, June 18. No approach to the Democratic Labour Party with a view to joint affiliation will be made by the New Zealand Labour Party. This is the effect of the unanimous endorsement by the annual conference of the Labour Party yestreday of the report of the national executive, which referred to the question. The national secretary, Mr M. Moohan, told delegates that the Labour Party stood as an independent political organisation, free and completely independent from any other political organisation. A request by the New Zealand Communist Party for a conference between the national executives of the two bodies was also rejected.' “The result was just as I expected, and Mr Moohan said just what I expected him to say,” said the leader of the Democratic Labour Party (Mr J. A. Lee), when informed of the Labour Party’s decision.
